Humidity Control for Data Centres and the future

Data Centres and the future…

India is witnessing a significant increase in data centre capacity, driven by the demand for hyperscale computing and AI workloads. India’s data centre capacity more than doubled in 2025, adding 387 MW IT (a 103% YoY increase), and is projected to triple by 2030. This surge is fuelled by hyperscale cloud adoption, AI workloads, and digital infrastructure expansion across metros and Tier-II cities.

And in this growth story humidity control is a critical pillar of data centre management, often overshadowed by temperature control but equally vital for hardware longevity. Servers require a precise balance to avoid two distinct types of physical failure: Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) at low humidity and Corrosion/Condensation at high humidity.

Precisely too little is dangerous, and too much is destructive.

Low Humidity (< 20% RH): When air is too dry, it becomes an insulator, allowing static electricity to build up on surfaces and personnel. A single spark of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can melt microscopic circuits in CPUs or cause “silent” data corruption.

High Humidity (> 60-80% RH): Excessive moisture leads to condensation on cold surfaces (like cooling coils or server intakes). This can cause immediate short circuits. Over time, high humidity also accelerates chemical corrosion of copper and silver traces on motherboards.

Humidity here in this game isn’t just an annoyance; it’s a significant operational cost. Excess moisture in the air can lead to condensation on hardware components, causing short circuits and rust. This isn’t just about equipment failure; it’s about the cumulative expenses of repairs and replacements. Additionally, high humidity levels can lead to mold growth, which poses health risks and further equipment damage. Controlling humidity is crucial, not just for avoiding immediate damage, but for the longevity and reliability of your data centre infrastructure.

Addressing the problem..

Not all data centres are equal, and humidity control strategies must also be tailored to specific data centres. Traditional data centres have different humidity needs compared to modern hyperscale facilities or modular data centres.

We at Climatronics we researched each variety of requirement for the perfect approach, combining state-of-the-art technology with an understanding of environmental impacts. By addressing the specific needs of different data centre configurations, We can ensure optimal performance and longevity, protecting investments and supporting continuous & reliable services.

Since accurate and continuous monitoring of humidity levels in your data centre is crucial hence we lay a process with advanced humidity sensors and environmental monitoring systems as essential tools that can help you keep tabs on the indoor humidity conditions. These systems provide real-time data and alerts that allow you to take proactive measures before problems escalate.

Our Compact and robust dehumidifiers provide the perfect management. These devices are preset with precise adjustments to maintain optimal humidity levels, especially in climates with extreme weather variations.

Embracing our advanced technologies for dehumidification can propel your data centre’s humidity management to the next level.

Investing in the humidity control can yield significant returns. Not only do they enhance the reliability and efficiency of your data centre, but they also reduce the risk of costly downtime and equipment failure. By staying ahead of the curve with these cutting-edge solutions, you ensure that your data centre remains resilient against the ever-present threat of humidity.
